| Robbins & Wheeler have had the privilege of
working with renowned Nashville producer and publisher
Mr. Scott Turner for several years. Mr. Turner was
an executive with A&M records and was head of
the country music department with United Artists
Records in Los Angeles. Later, he was transferred
to the United Artists Nashville offices to take over
the operations there. Turner is currently an independent
producer and publisher and has produced countless
country artists and has numerous awards and gold
records to his credit. In addition to his illustrious
recording career, he is an accomplished songwriter
and has had several hit songs recorded by major artists
throughout the years. Scott has been instrumental
in the development of Robbins & Wheeler not only
as a publisher, but also as a mentor -- and most
importantly, a great friend. And he continues to
graciously lend his expertise and experience to Robbins & Wheeler's
ongoing development.
In the past four years, Robbins & Wheeler
have also been working with The Mike Kelly Organization
in Nashville. Mr. Kelly has been instrumental in
promoting Robbins & Wheeler on national radio.
Their songs have been played for and warmly received
by millions of country fans throughout the United
States.
While still unknown and unexposed to a national
audience, the first single was released. “Carry
Me Away” debuted at one hundred on the Independent
Country Artists Charts. The song steadily climbed
to the number three position and remained there
for an unprecedented five weeks in March and April
of 2002. The second release, “Alone With
You”, debuted at number eighty and rapidly
climbed to the number one spot in September 2002.
The third release, “Ghost Of James Dean”,
debuted at number forty and hit number one in March
2003. The latest single, "Nothing But Love
On Our Mind" (an Audie Murphie song), was
released in early April of 2003 and entered the
charts at number sixty-nine. The song claimed the
#1 spot in August 2003 after slowly climbing for
nearly four months.
In 2002, Robbins & Wheeler were approached
by film writer/director Mike Noonan and were asked
contribute a song for the Jose Torres Film works
production of “The Academy”. The song
selected for the film was “Railroad Rock".
The film debuted at The Vic Theater in Chicago
and to rave reviews at the independent film festival
in Hollywood, California.
Robbins & Wheeler are also in the pre-production
stages for their upcoming album, with several new
and unique songs written and arranged by J.T. and
Delton. Stage rehearsals are under way as well,
as the group prepares to hit the road.
Delton Robbins raised in Forrest City, Arkansas
about forty miles west of Memphis. Delton’s
first influences were from his father, an accomplished
singer and musician, who introduced Delton to
the sounds of Hank Williams Sr., Elvis Presley
and Carl Perkins. Delton started singing and
playing guitar at a very early age and at the
age of thirteen settled on the bass. Singing
and playing bass became his trademark. In addition
too traditional country artists like Waylon Jennings,
George Strait, and Kenny Rogers. Contemporary
influences have been Sting and Paul McCartney.
J.T. Wheeler raised in suburban Illinois, his
early influences were that of his first guitar
teacher, a member of the WLS Radio Barn Dance Show.
He started playing the guitar at age nine. JT has
played a wide variety of musical styles throughout
his career, during which he has developed his own
unique style of guitar. Guitarists that have had
significant influence are James Burton, Don Rich
with Buck Owens, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark and contemporary
artists Mark Knopfler, Carlos Santana and Eric
Clapton.
Robbins and Wheeler are ASCAP members, Nashville
published writers and seasoned veterans of studio
and stage. They first met in 1997 while playing
on a studio demo session and started a collaboration
shortly after. “Our creative process is based
on mutual respect for each others talent and what
we both contribute to a project,” states
Robbins. Wheeler confirms, “We draw from
our experiences and write songs, produce and arrange
material in a way that is varied and pleasing without
replicating others. Our goal is to create music
that is true to the rich heritage of country music,
yet has the original sound of “Robbins & Wheeler”. |
